Apache in his foster home
Arthur in his new forever home
Arthur’s Story
Arthur (previously known as Apache) came to live with us
on the day after Christmas, 2005. We had lost the second
of our beloved shelties in September, and were looking
for a dog to fill the hole in our hearts. We found Arthur’s
picture on line after looking at photos of hundreds of
dogs, and the _expression in his eyes told us that we
were meant to be together. A couple of emails to Megan,
and we went to meet him.
He was skittish at first, and even barked at us when we
first met. It took some coaxing and treats, but we got him
into our car for the long drive home. He started on the
other side of the car, but inched closer and closer as we
drove on, and even sneaked a kiss after about an hour.
He wasn’t too happy with his new home at first, and tried
to bolt out the front door. After lots of patience he has
come around, and we are now the luckiest humans in the
world to share our lives with our furry friend. Arthur tells
us that he has it pretty good, too.
He loves to play with his ball and Frisbee, leaping and
twisting in the air. He races and jumps across the room to
land on our laps for a belly rub. He loves trips to Dog
Beach, where he gets wet and sandy and completely
happy. He’s very snuggly on the sofa while watching TV.
He sleeps on his back with all four paws in the air. He likes
to keep his toys in a neat row. Our neighbor Susan loves
him so much that she walks him every day while we’re at
work; he is devoted to her, too. He gets lots of
compliments for his good looks, and is even a friend to
the neighborhood cats, Rocky, Joey and Coco.
Thank you, Megan and Kim (local Aussie rescue), for
helping to bring this wonderful dog into our lives and our
hearts.
